Do I have to have a piano at home for my child to participate?
No. Our class is about experiencing music together. However for your child to grow musically, it is best to also have an instrument at home. A keyboard will work, but as your child progresses you will want to consider a keyboard with 88 weighted keys. For the first session, a regular keyboard is fine. See me for quality keyboard ideas or to rent one of our studio keyboards.

What if my child can’t sit still and focus?
This class is meant for children who need to move and love to play. Respect for each other will be insisted but moving and playing is part of the class. Games, books, and puppets help engage the students as well as performing along with the teacher on their individual keyboard.

What about sickness or bad weather days? Will there be a makeup day?
We can’t really predict these things, but if your child needs to be home due to illness we will have a zoom option available so they can watch from home. If there is bad weather, you will be notified if the studio will be closing. If the studio has to close for any reason, we will extend the session by a week and keep that make up day on Monday or Friday.

Does my child have to practice at home?
The goal of our studio is for students to play at home during the week in order to retain the skills learned in the lesson. This is often time that I am asking you to spend with your child and not see it as independent work initially. It should be playful and fun at home and not as regimented “practice time”. There will be all kinds of at home performance challenges and times that they will give more effort at home.

Each student receives a bag that they are to bring back and forth to class. In each preschool bag, there will be a set of finger puppets, book, and it will be a place to keep other fun props we use in class (i.e sticks, paper plates, shakers, etc.) For private lesson students, a practice binder, book, pencil and other fun resources will be provided.
